Life is a complex series of mistakes, family dinners, and laughs that make you pee a little. While we are on this earth with over 8 billion other people, we have been given the life that makes up our stories. And each story is different. Even each chapter blends into a genre mixing bowl and introduces lovable characters in one instance. and much like Game of Thrones. eliminates them the next. Unlike the many dusty books sitting on our shelves, with our stories, we cannot simply pick it up, skim the pages, or jump to the end to see what happens. It is not that simple because our stories are not fully written yet. We are the authors of our stories, which means we have the wonderful opportunity to write ourselves a happy ending. If that is what we want.

But in order to create well developed characters and protagonists in our lives, we have to understand that we are all human. Humans who make mistakes, humans who enjoy smiling, and humans who know that nothing is guaranteed on this Earth. We can choose to develop a robotic existence, or we can open ourselves up to the joys of the world and learn to not take ourselves too seriously.

Isn't it easier said than done? With all the prejudices in the world, the not so great economy, and the growing mental health problems that are constantly overlooked, how can I not be serious in life? And this solution cannot be answered in an article written by a guy who literally finds joy in smiling. However, a rough road map can be drawn up to give some tools to those weary travelers who are looking for a happier destination to continue their writing. This is my rough road map.

Flaws Are Not Weaknesses: If we were a science experiment, we would be made up of several different parts; talent, drive, confidence, dad jokes, and so on. With every "positive" part, comes a part of ourselves that we aren't so confident to reveal, but that doesn't make you less of a person because of this. In order to write the stories we want to read, we can't be focused on areas of ourselves that we deem "weaknesses." They are simply areas of improvement or areas of embrace. We can either be better or we can learn to love them. As we embrace every aspect of ourselves, "good" or "bad", others will too.

You Care Way More Than Those Around You: When we stand in a room and gaze across the crowd to see who all is looking back at us, we often internalize our own impressions of ourselves. What do they think of how I look tonight? What is their impression of me? While we ask these questions for others, we are really asking these burning questions for ourselves. As much as we want to turn off that voice inside our heads that say "EVERYONE IS JUDGING YOU," we can't. But what we can do is scream much louder with a voice that says "NO ONE CARES." You care way more than those around you, so don't. People want to see people having fun, and doing what they want to do when they want to do it because it gives other a glimpse of something that is so foreign to them. So, let your freak flag fly. Enjoy that Saturday night life. And never. NEVER, let others, or that voice inside your head, prevent you from living your best life.

Do It Because You Want To: Time flows by way faster than we want to admit, like a river overflowing past the banks of our lives. And often as we sail past, we wonder about the decisions we have made that got us to this current. No regrets mean doing exactly what you wanted when you wanted. But it is on your terms. Your decisions. We cross many bends in our journey, but if we want to paddle to the left while everyone else paddles to the right, so be it. All rivers lead to the ocean, and we just happen to be taking a different path. Be confident in the navigating you choose to do, be proud of the white waters that you bravely coursed, and never feel guilty for the mutiny on your own bounty.

They say life is a game and we are just pawns that play it. If it's a game, why shouldn't we be having more fun! Life should be fun. But the one thing that prevents us from enjoying the finer things in life is ourselves. We often take ourselves way too serious in moments of ignorance. We question our abilities, our insecurities, and currents in life. When we stop worrying about all the little things and start focusing on what makes us truly happy, we will start to live a full, and epic life! So, from one joker to the next, tell your next joke, act like a fool. and smile every damn minute of it.
